The enrichment series offers 72 classes for the fall. Since 1972, Millsaps College has offered to the greater Jackson community a variety of opportunities through the series. Register online or print a registration form.

The non-credit courses have no prerequisites, no exams and cover a variety of special interest areas. The cost of classes vary, according to the subject and number of times it meets.

Some classes such as To Tell the Truth: Creative Nonfiction, which Ellen Ann Fentress teaches, continue meeting even after the series of classes ends. This class developed a bond and has continued to meet to discuss and workshop their writing.

When author Mary Karr came to read and sign books at Lemuria Book Store in Jackson, members of the class met the author.  Karr encouraged class members to continue meeting and encouraging each other.

Fentress said the enrichment class is designed to explore nonfiction forms, including memoir, personal essay, humor, and criticism.  Students learn how to generate potential topics and also develop sharper eyes as readers and stronger everyday skills as writers.
